WILMINGTON, NC — It was one year ago when 18-year-old Al’quon Flowers went missing, but his loved ones are still hopeful there will be new leads in the case.

Dozens of his family and friends held a vigil in his honor on the Wilmington riverfront Wednesday night.

Flowers’ loved ones say they are holding onto their faith in God.

“I have peace that God will answer our prayers. I’m hoping and praying. I pray every night that we get some type of closure. He’s an on-time God and he will answer prayers when it’s time,” Flower’s great aunt, Ginger Lee said.

Flowers was last seen on Red Cross Street near downtown Wilmington on July 18, 2011.

Family members believe he was the target of gang violence. An investigation into his disappearance continues.
