WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- With big budget movies shooting in Wilmington right now, don't forget some films are ready for premier.

"The Dark Knight Rises," the sequel to the wildly popular "Dark Knight," shows at midnight, and one local theater invited fans to get in on the fun.

There is something about the Caped Crusader that inspires fans to enter the fantasy world as their favorite character.

Carmike Cinema went all out for the premier of "The Dark Knight Rises" encouraging a well-costumed crowd. Even the employees got in on the act. And there were plenty of events, in the Batman theme of course.

"We did an art contest earlier today, and we did a Riddler's riddles contest with riddles from the old Adam West show," Carmike complex manager Alicia Hammitt said. "We're doing a costume contest, and we have trivia late . So it should be a lot of fun."

This sequel is Christian Bale's final turn as Bruce Wayne. It is big fun, it is a big draw and it will mean big money.

"It's going to be a really big event. When 'The Dark Knight' came, out we sold out 15 auditoriums, so we are anticipating selling out the whole house tonight, all 16 auditoriums. That's 2,000 plus seats," Hammitt said.

Warner Bros. spent $250 million producing "The Dark Knight Rises." It is projected to challenge the title of biggest box office weekend and may out draw the $534 million total box office performance of "The Dark Knight."
