STORMTRACK 3: Severe weather hits the state Tuesday


SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY)- An approaching front and storm system tapped into a hot, humid environment in central and eastern North Carolina Tuesday afternoon. The available instability fueled severe thunderstorms. Between 2:30 and 4:40 PM, over 3600 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes occurred in the Raleigh operational area of the National Weather Service. Storms pushed into southeastern NC late in the afternoon.
