WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have identified the man whose body was found early Sunday morning on N. Kerr Avenue.

Investigators say he was Silverio Garcia Merino, 34. They say he lived and worked part-time in Wilmington, and traveled to find additional work.

The autopsy revealed Merino died from injuries suffered when he was hit by a vehicle. WPD traffic investigators have not been able to identify either the vehicle or the driver. They hope someone will come forward with information so they can provide some sense of closure to the victim’s family.

Anyone with information, even some small detail, is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600. Information also may be submitted anonymously through Text-A-Tip. Enter Tip708 and the information; send to 274637 (CRIMES).
