GRANITE FALLS, NC (WWAY) — Whiteville Post 137 defeated Randolph County 14-6 on Wednesday on the first day of the state championship tournament for American Legion baseball.
Post 137’s Mikey Inman goes the distance. 6 runs, 4 earned, 9 strikeouts, 5 walks, 2 hit batters. Inman did not have a 3 up, 3 down inning but made the pitches when needed.
After 3 batters Randolph County led 3-0 on a single, error and 3 run homer by Dillon Prevatte. Whiteville responded with 3 runs on 4 hits in bottom of first. Cain Wilkerson provided the big blow with a 2 run double.
Whiteville blows it open with a 7 run 2nd inning. 4 hits, 1 hit batter and 2 errors. Derrick Bracey provided the big blow with a grand slam to make it 10-3. Whiteville continued to maintain a cushion with single runs in the 4th and 6th and 2 in the 7th.

Whiteville will face Cherryville on Thursday at 4:30. Cherryville nipped Apex 4-3 in 10 innings on a walk-off homer.
GRANITE FALLS,NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Post 10 defeated High Point 13-7 on Monday afternoon. Joe O’Donnell pitched started the game for Post 10. O’Donnell pitched seven innings. He struck out eight batters. Sam Foy led the hitting attack for Post 10. Foy had three hits, including a grand slam in the 4th inning that gave Wilmington a 9 to 4 lead at the time.
Wilmington will face Caldwell County on Thursday at 7:30. The host team of the tournament defeated Pitt County on Wednesday 14-1.
