Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Junior Golf Academy is more than a sports program, it is a way to teach children life skills and educate them through a year round program. The best part, perhaps, is that no child or parent ever pays a penny for have the child participate in the program.

Right now there are even participants as young as 4-years-old in the program. Money to fund the program is important, so Wilmington Junior Golf Academy Founder Jake Hunt is running a golf tournament.

"Swingin’ Fore the Kids" tees off Saturday, August 25, 2012. The entry fee is $90/person and includes green fees, cart, catered breakfast and catered lunch. Tournament extras include mulligans, putting contest, long drive contests and more.

It’s all happening at the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course. Entry forms must be completed by August 18, 2012.

To learn more, watch Jake Hunt’s full interview from his appearance on Good Morning Carolina with anchor Ashley Jacobs.
