NORFOLK, VA (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has selected Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan (R) to be his running mate.

The candidate made his announcement to supporters via a phone app, saying, “Mitt’s Choice for VP is Paul Ryan.”

Romney and Ryan are kicking off a four-day bus tour that will take them to as many states.

At 42, Ryan is a generation younger than the 65-year-old Romney. Ryan is the current Chairman of the House Budget Committee.

The fact that changes to Medicare,Medicaid & Social Security won’t affect those 55 and older gives me no sense of security. The Republican agenda only seems directed at security for the wealthy so I fear that their leadership is capable of anything if given the power. I also get no satisfaction from knowing that if I support Romney/ Ryan, I am essentially throwing my children, my grandchildren and those of my fellow Americans under the BUS by allowing these programs to change.
My recent experience with my elderly father opened my eyes to the importance of these entitlement programs. Keeping my father at home and seeing to his medical needs slowly became impossible, he lost both his physical and mental capacities over time. He had no funds to pay out against what is being called a Voucher System. My Father died with the dignity of knowing his debts and funeral would be paid and his good name protected.
Millions of us face this situation each year and until we do we may not quite appreciate the values of these programs. We can all pay a little more and the wealthy can pay a lot more to protect these vital programs.
My family will proudly support and vote for OBama/Biden.
We will support the re-establishment of American Industry as this is the only solution to our economic distress.

When President Obama passed his signature healthcare achievement, Obamacare, he raided $716 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. This will lead to fewer services for seniors. President Obama’s campaign calls this an achievement. You think raiding Medicare to pay for Obamacare is an achievement? Kep supporting Obama and see what happens next…

I agree, instead we need someone to align themselves with the far left liberals such as yourself. Right? Unfortunately your kind pander to the gay left and their “values” which decimates any chance of them getting my vote…and that of the normal population. The minute I hear “gay values” I run for the hills haha

It’s a shame, if they wouldn’t align themselves with right wing ideologues they would probably have my vote. Unfortunately they pander to the christian right and their “values” which decimates any chance of them getting my vote…and that of most libertarian minded people. The minute I hear “family” values I run for the hills haha

Where did you happen upon this information? Did you bother to research it at all? Just another sheep? Biden said we would have blacks back in chains too, and Romney will take away women’s rights. I am assuming since you are unable to think for yourself you believe this political B.S as well?

Because Obama’s Affordable Care Act cut 716 billion dollars from Medicare’s growth. That is a massive cut to any program and please don’t buy into the rhetoric that’s it’s all cost savings and fraud prevention. It is going into the meat of the program and you will feel its effects.

That isn’t something that could happen, it has happened.

Let me know how that works out for you.

I am sure that you are a well educated, intelligent individual. Please educate yourself more on this issue other than the democratic newswire before making a EDUCATED decision. Paul Ryan will not kill Medicare. I agree with you Medicare is well needed but it is a very aged system that was designed around policies that cannot hold up in this economy. Like any system, it needs to be modified to the times and that’s all Ryan will do. You will not lose your right to have me or my daughter pay for your prescriptions. You have that under our current administration. Please educate yourself by reading a NON-PARTISAN document.

under Obamacare, Medicaid qualifications actually tighten up in many states making it more challenging for low income working people to qualify. The leeches who do not work are not impacted. Just the low income working stiffs who pay taxes.

That’s Obamacare for you.

Oh, by the way, in North Carolina, the state paid $174 Million this fiscal year to the Feds for money borrowed by the current and former Governors to keep Medicaid afloat.

Keep dreaming that everythin improved in 2008.

You apparently have not read Ryan’s plan for Medicare. If you had, you would know it won’t affect anyone who today is age 55 or older. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid HereComesTheNight. If you’re poor…you have Medicaid available right now.

Can you spend more than you make month-in and month-out? No you can’t. And neither can the taxpayers continue to afford the Feds doing the same.

And you are an example of “what” goes to the polls….

Paul Ryan will destroy Medicare, and this will be catastrophic for seniors and poor people.

If it were not for Medicare, how could we seniors even pay for our prescriptions?

Romney/Ryan will not get my vote.

I have pretty much stayed out of the political process all my life. I am 66 years old and the last time I voted was in the 1968 election (I think that is correct)and voted for “Tricky” Dick Nixon. I gave up on politics, thinking all politicians are the same. However, I feel the need to voth this time, and it will be for Obama.

So now we have a right wing nutcase and his right wing nutcase vice-presidential candidate running mate against our left wing president. Obama will probably win by about 10 points.

Obama may be a poor leader, but he will be our next president.

nutcase? really? that’s an educated posting. Maybe your “poor leader” will add another 6 Trillion dollars to our debt. Or maybe you are not educated enough about the subject to make a rational posting here.

Well, America’s needed a little R&R for a while now.

2015 years 8 months ago

The next to last thing America needs is Romney and Ryan. The last thing we need is Obama.

My guess would be for the latter. Obviously not enough intellect there to work with. Afterall, liberalism is a brain disease.
