Despite loss, Post 10 advances to title game

SUMTER,SC (WWAY) – The state champions from North Carolina, Wilmington Post 10, lost 14-10 on Sunday to the state champions from South Carolina on day four of the SE Regional American Legion Baseball Tournament. The comeback for Wilmington fell short. Wilmington scored 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Only three teams remain in the tournament: Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. Due to the fact Alabama and South Carolina lost prior to Sunday, Post 10 get the automatic pass into Sunday’s championship game. All three teams currently have one loss.

Noon on Monday, August 13

Championship Game: Wilmington Post 10 will play the winning team from the noon game on Monday 35 minutes after the conclusion of the noon game. It’ll be a winner-take-all contest. The winning squad punches a ticket to the American Legion World Series in Shelby. The American Legion World Series will start on Friday.

Note: Post 10 has not advanced to the American Legion World Series since 1970. The late Buck Hardee was the head coach that year for Wilmington. Scott Sandlin is the current Post 10 head coach.
