RALEIGH, NC (AP) — North Carolina’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 9.6 percent in July but still remains below the rate from the same time last year.

The rate increased from the 9.4 percent June figure, which had held steady for three months. The North Carolina rate remains higher than the national rate of 8.3 percent.

The state unemployment rate in July 2011 was 10.7 percent.

The state Commerce Department says the number of employed people decreased by almost 14,000 to about 4.2 million over the month but increased by about 49,000 over the past year.

Initial claims for unemployment insurance totaled more than 64,000, increasing by almost 18,000 from June. Almost 445,000 people were unemployed in North Carolina in July.

What happened to all of Obama’s promises ? Our economy is a trainwreck. He has done nothing, but increase welfare, and blame others.

  • Guest: still unemployed

This number doesn’t count those under employed. Many are working but getting fewer than 25 hours per week. In my searches, most jobs being offered are part-time employment or you need a college degree. Many people looking for employment can’t survive on part-time work. Most of those part-time positions are minimum wage jobs. How can a family survive on that?? Since I became unemployed, our household income has dropped 30%, add to that the cost of food and gas increasing. It is not good, I don’t care how you slice and dice it. We are barely surviving.

is somewhere around 14%. The “official” number doesn’t count those who’s unemployment benefit has ended or the under-employed. How’s that “Hope and Change” working for you now?

Remember these numbers when you vote in November.

Throw Obama out in November. The bum doesn’t deserve re-election and my wallet can’t take anymore Democrat laws.

This will get worse as companies will release seasonal help around Labor Day.
The 10$ of those not working is much larger, some have not worked 2-3 years and unemployment benefits expired.
