WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With a new school year just days away, parents in New Hanover County got the opportunity to ask some last-minute questions.
Dr. Tim Markley held two Superintendent’s Chats today to address community concerns before students fill the hallways. He discussed several topics: from new curriculums to dress codes.
Dr. Markley says it’s an exciting and busy time of year for parents, and that communication is key to resolving beginning-of-the-year issues.
“Get to know the teacher, get to know the school, because for the next 10 months, that’s where those students are gonna be, is in class, learning,” Markley said. “Talk to teachers about what’s going on. Open up those lines of communication, and I think your child will have a great year.”
Markley also encouraged parents to talk to the principal to get issues worked out.
