CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — Tickets are to be distributed for President Barack Obama’s acceptance speech on the last night of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

The tickets are to go out on Thursday. More will be released at field offices across the state, including in Wilmington, Saturday.

For months, people have been going online to register for a chance to attend the event at the 74,000-seat Bank of America Stadium. This week, the Democratic National Convention Committee released an image of the “community credential” – a ticket that shows Obama and Vice President Joe Biden smiling and shaking hands.

Charlotte residents have been promised tickets if they complete a certain number of volunteer hours working with the Obama re-election campaign.

The Democratic convention is being held from Sept. 4-6. For the first two days, Time Warner Cable Arena in downtown Charlotte will be the main venue.

Will they require a photo ID? After all, it isn’t like they are voting.

I really am glad that President Obama is our president. I volunteer my service at the polls and will be contibuting to his 2012 campaign as I did in 2008. I live in Connecticut and I would travel any distance just to here my president give is re-election speech. My entire family is an Obama supporter. We love President Obama. Thank you
