TAMPA, FL (AP) — The Republican Party is delaying the bulk of its convention until Tuesday afternoon because of the severe weather expected from Tropical Storm Isaac.

Republican Chairman Reince Priebus says the convention will convene briefly Monday and then immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, once the storm is expected to have passed.

Priebus says that the party made the decision after consulting with Florida Gov. Rick Scott and federal and local emergency officials.

Although nominee-in-waiting Mitt Romney isn’t addressing the convention until Thursday night, delegates had been scheduled to take the traditional roll call making him the nominee on the opening day.

This is the second Republican convention in a row to be delayed due to severe weather. The 2008 convention in Minnesota was delayed by a day because of a hurricane.

“Maybe the hurricane which is disrupting the Republican Convention is an omen to let people know what Mitt Romney and Ryan are really all about.”

So you think the hurricane is an “omen” to “let people know”?

Maybe your post is an “omen” to “let you know” why you expect to be called a lot of names.

I certainly expect to be called a lot of names, which is consistant action for those who have a different opinion from mine and they know of no other way to express theirs. Maybe the hurricane which is disrupting the Republican Convention is an omen to let people know what Mitt Romney and Ryan are really all about. I personally am of the opinion that Romney is a very sneaky, uncaring, disrespectful, and probably dangerous person. I feel he is out to get what he can for himself and his wealthy friends and will use his power, if elected to steal what little the working class has left and give it to the 2%. I may be wrong, but somehow I feel Romney is pure evil and a lot of Americans will be very sorry they voted for him if he is elected.

Sorry – I had to read this comment twice to make sure I read it right. I am sure you meant to say Obama instead of Romney

Sounds like it to me. RNC pulling the plug so quickly for now NO reason seems idiotic and a knee jerk reaction to say the least. Kind of makes them look stupid now as Tampa’s in no real threat by this storm. I have family down there and they couldnt believe the RNCs actions.

  • Robo says:

They didn’t pull the plug too fast. It was recommended by the Governor of Florida.

  • Grand Ole Party says:

If they had stayed and someone was killed you would have been the first to ask why they would take the chance. Kind of makes you look stupid.

    You read it correctly……..
