WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In New Hanover County as many students and teachers filled the halls to kick off a new school year, D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy celebrated the beginning of a new chapter.

The middle school marked its return with grand opening festivities, welcoming students with a brand new vision. Students, teachers and community members gathered to show support and kick off the start of new learning adventures.

“We had all of our partners here: PPD, county commissioners, Mayor (Bill) Saffo, board members and Superintendent (Tim) Markley,” Principal Eric Irizzary said. “A lot of our parents came out to kind of see us off on our first day, so it was a great, great turnout.”

Virgo already has plans to continue in its growth and expansion. It will add one grade each year until there is a full sixth to eighth grade middle school enrollment.
