WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- As Hurricane Isaac heads farther inland on the Gulf Coast, one Wilmington man is in the middle of it, tracking the storm on his website and new iPhone app.

Mark Sudduth graduated from UNCW in 1995, focusing on geography and hurricane climatology. Since then, he has used his passion for severe storms to follow them and keep folks up to date on what's happening. He works with communities and media outlets to produce hurricane tracking maps and education campaigns.

Once they know a storm is on its way to shore, Sudduth, creator of HurricaneTrack.com, and his team head out in their decked out Chevy Tahoe.

"We have a plan of attack on when we're going to set up our wind sensor equipment, our remote operated camera unit, figure out who we're going to work with," Sudduth said as he rode out the storm in Missippi. "Anything really over 100 mph starts getting dicey for us to be out in the truck. We just try to use common sense, is what it comes down to."

On his website, you can see live footage from one of the cameras and read his latest blog posts. Sudduth also helped create an iPhone app, released earlier this month, to help others keep up with the storm's on-shore movement.

"People can follow what we're doing mobile," Sudduth said. "We can post pictures to Twitter, and they show up there, and Facebook posts and video blogs and even live weather data."

You can purchase the mobile app on iTunes for $9.99. Sudduth says an Android app will be available soon.

As of Tuesday evening, Sudduth and his team were in Gulfport, MS, as Hurricane Isaac continues its path through Louisiana.
