WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than $900,000 in federal funds will go towards security enhancements at Wilmington International Airport. That’s according to a news release from Congressman Mike McIntyre’s office.

Congress appropriated the funds through the Department of Transportation.

“Security improvements and enhancement are critical to passenger and airplane safety and these federal funds will help the Wilmington Airport in both regards,” McIntyre said. “Congratulations to Director Jon Rosborough and all the fine folks at the airport for their work in securing these funds.”

I fly out of ILM on a regular basis. The “security” at ILM is much better staffed and equipped than any other (American) airport that I have been to. One could even argue that it is over staffed and equipped when the number of passengers is factered into the equation. I believe that my (tax) dollars would be better spent PAYING DOWN THE NATION’S DEBT !!!

ILM must be one of the most dangerous places on Earth? Think what $900,000 DOT Dollars would do for the local roads and bridges and be disappointed.

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A SINGULAR INCIDENT THAT WOULD INDICATE THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM AT ILM!! EVEN 11 YEARS AFTER 9/11…. NOW, $900,000 MORE TAX DOLLARS ARE FLOWING IN AMIDST A $16 TRILLION NATIONAL DEBT! WE HAVE A BODY SCANNER, WITH 15 TSA AGENTS AT A SINGLE ENTRANCE AT THE AIRPORT AND SOMEHOW $900,000 MORE NEEDS TO SPENT. WHERE ARE THE DETAILS ON HOW IT WILL BE SPENT?? OR IS IT, “CONGRATULATIONS ON SECURING THE FUNDS”, AND THEN WE’LL FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE IT?! GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THE NATIONAL DEBT GOING FORWARD

brought home to your district is what Congress men “do” and have done for eons.
    Bridge to no where anyone?
    Butterfly studies?
    Bison excrement studies?

Why not a study on the economic impact of minor league baseball on cities?
Perhaps a CIA station on BHI to stop the smugglers? Maybe submarine netting?

C’mon guys its what Mike does, and Boehnner, and Cantor.
Since the GOP is in the majority does that make them wasteful spenders?
