CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- The late night menu at some fast food restaurants are hot spots for the hungry. One man says he left with a not-so-happy meal and now he's offering a reward to find out who served up a beating.

The Carolina Beach Police need your help to track down two men they believe beat up at man in a McDonald's parking lot.

They say 45-year-old Roderick Brooks Savage tried to walk through the drive thru at McDonald's. Patrons have to be in a vehicle to place an order, so he asked two men if he and his friend could ride in the truck bed of their F-250. When Savage's friend got out of the truck to go to the bathroom, detectives say the two men beat savage up then took off. Now, the police are trying to track them down.

"The victim says he can't remember much of what happened that night," says Carolina Beach Police Detective Derek Moore. "He says he thought he only got hit a few times but when he went to the hospital it was obvious it was a serious assault."

Moore says detectives don't know much - and security cameras from the restaurant don't show much - but they do have a few leads.

Savage is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who can help get a positive arrest in the case.
His friends are also taking to social media - posting photos of his injuries to their Facebook pages. Police say the online outreach may be helpful.

"Facebook has really become a good tool for us especially now-a-days with the outreach that Facebook has you can get the word out much quicker," says Moore.

Savage was in surgery this afternoon to repair his broken arm. If you have any information about the case, call the Carolina Beach Police at (910) 458-1246.

LISTEN UP PEOPLE...I know

LISTEN UP PEOPLE...I know this MAN personally...NO ONE deserves what happen to him...So STOP acting like BUTTHEADS & Let's find these LOSERS...before they do the Samething to SOMEONE You care about!!!

Police have better things to do

Police have better things to do then to watch the drunks try and walk thru the drive thru for a late night meal, guy is a dumbass for getting in a vehicle w/ strangers and I bet there is much more to this story then he simply got out of the truck, which also does not make sense (bathroom?) if the inside was open why did you need the drive thru.

Better things to

Better things to do...Hmmmm... Let me see. Oh, I know they could be on the telephone, sitting in the PD, at the gym working out, watching movies on their computers, sleeping, at the fire dept, Seriously! They know the hours of trouble! Their presence might deter these things just a little. Oh, I forgot Labor Day has passed so they are all taking some down time...GEEZ... I challenge YOU to watch the police, see how many are are on their phones instead of paying attention - ask ANY dispatcher how many times they have to give out the SAME information to numerous police officers because they aren't paying attention to what they are suppose to be doing or the radio.

So you're saying to beat a

So you're saying to beat a man for a relatively innocent act is justified? That's a pretty juvenile thing to say!

Maybe if the police would

Maybe if the police would get out of the PD and actually start patrolling these things might be avoided. McDonalds has ALWAYS been a hot spot for assaults - The police might consider actually watching it late nights from across the road. If you want to see the "madness" go out and watch in from Hardees parking lot from 12am-2am. Since McDonalds is the only place open at that hour, the police administration might want to consider watching it... Maybe the media might want to do some video and see what the police in CB are really doing? Nothing... BTW - There is no time or date regarding the assault...

Hey Detective....

....since you wear your Sherlock Holmes uniform all the time and seem to know so much about crime prevention, do the ground work yourself.
You may want to lay off the "L.A. Detective Stories" mag for a while and get back to reality. Geeeez...

grown ups do the silliest things ...

Even kindergarteners know to never get into a car with strangers. Or a truck, whatever. What was this guy thinking?
