BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A production company out of Los Angeles wants to know why all the drama with Belville and Leland? So much so, it may soon be a television show.

It’s no secret that the small towns have had their fair share of drama over the last year. Between the alleged corruption within the Leland Police Department, to the resignation of Belville’s Mayor Jack Batson, the controversies in the towns are that of a reality television show and a production company out of LA wants to cash in on it.

High Noon Productions is reportedly looking for people in Belville and Leland to talk about the town’s “rivalry” with one another. The idea seems to be to have neighbor against neighbor in a battle over which town is better.

But what do the people of Belville and Leland think and how did a production company across the country learn about the small-town faceoff in the first place?

It may have stemmed from the coverage of the two town’s discussion of merging together, which quickly heated up once Belville representatives said no way to the idea.

Still though, Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman says she does not consider the two towns to be rivals so when she was approached by someone about the show, she didn’t take it seriously. Bozeman says she plans to continue to be a good neighbor to Belville and hopes they will do the same.

We tried to contact someone with the town of Belville but were told the manager was out until Friday.

Still, the production company didn’t say it was looking for officials so residents could make the cut if interested. Anyone interested or wanting more information should email lelandvsbelville@gmail.com

and be perceived as a joke. You elect people who behave in a certain way, not consistent with good judgement, and the people out there are going to laugh at you.

It’s them outsiders … they made us look bad.

It’s not our fault we sold them property to live on. It’s them outsiders’ fault that they bought it from us.

It’s not our fault we’ve lived here our whole life and haven’t run for elected office. It’s them outsiders.

It’s not our fault that most of the voters who lived here their entire life voted these people into office. It’s them outsiders.

It’s not our fault that every time something goes wrong we pull out that old carpetbag excuse and blame someone other than ourselves. It’s them outsiders.

If everyone had just left us alone in our little hamlet of perfection nothing would have happened, just like nothing has ever happened since time immemorial.

Them outsiders are every reason things aren’t just they way I remember them in my fictional imagination. That’s not our fault, it’s them outsiders.

Our elected officials were elected to preserve our good name and instead they are making a joke of us. I hate to say it, but the ones raising us to ridicule are not from these parts. These folks have brought shame on Belville with their antics. It is not just a Belville issue with our elected officials attacking each other, some county officials seem to enjoy attacking and bringing down their colleagues. We need to elect some folks who know how to get it done
while acting like gentlemen and ladies. My suggestion to concerned
voters–look at candidates who are really from here and not the latest outsider who just breezed in with his or her carpetbag.

WOW! Is TV3 really considering this NEWS worthy? For a moment I thought I was standing in line at the grocery store reading the gossip magazines.

  • GuestLucky says:

Should either be happy this is the news or move to chicago or ny if you want some murder – doom and gloom news. Oh but then you would complain about that too.

How is it not news? A production company is interested in and casting a potential show about the area that would film here. Seems like news to me.

Yet you read it and felt compelled to post a comment. I guess you felt it was worthy of reading.

I think it would be a great show, finally mike allen would be exposed for the fake two faced person he is. All the problems within belville and leland start with mike allen

  • STM says:

Please just don’t air it opposite Honey Boo Boo. How will we ever decide which one to watch?
