WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tickets to hear Magic Johnson speak at UNCW went quickly this morning.

Free tickets were available starting at 9 a.m. By 11 a.m., all 1,100 tickets were accounted for.

Johnson will kick off a new lecture series on diversity and community outreach.

“I think it’s going to be a wonderful event, especially for the youth and New Hanover County to get someone of this magnitude to come to town to speak about the trials and tribulations of what he’s gone through to get where he is,” UNCW Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Haig Lea said.

All tickets were first-come, first-serve seating.

Johnson will speak at Trask Coliseum on October 11 at 6 p.m.
