BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office hosted a first ever media relations day on Tuesday.
Leaders of the region’s news organizations, including WWAY News Director Scott Pickey, met with area public information officers to discuss how we can more effectively work together to get the best information possible to viewers as quickly as possible.
“If we are at odds with each other or we fail to communicate like we should, then we’ll never be able to effectively get information out,” Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram said. “It is very important from a law enforcement aspect, because we want our public informed, and I know that the media’s purpose is to get the information out there.”
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is looking into holding more events like this in the future to keep an open line of communication between police and the media.
