WILMINGTON, NC (AP) — Closing arguments are coming in the court hearing that could determine whether Jeffrey MacDonald gets a new trial.

MacDonald was convicted of killing his pregnant wife and two daughters at their Fort Bragg home in 1970. Closing arguments in Wilmington are expected Tuesday. Each side will have up to three hours to sum up their arguments.

Prosecutors say MacDonald stabbed his family to death with two paring knives and an icepick and beat them with a piece of wood in their apartment. The Princeton-educated Green Beret physician has always maintained his innocence.

The hearing before a federal judge involves DNA evidence that wasn’t available during his 1979 trial and witness testimony that MacDonald’s defense team says proves his innocence.

This detailed story explains a lot about the motive of the occult groups vengeance against the doctor, which has never been fully reported http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/09/24/2366564/attorney-stoeckleys-accounts-of.html

I just finished reading “A Wilderness of Error” by Errol Morris. This was after reading Joe McGinnus’s book.

After reading both of them, I’m not convinced he’s innocent, nor am I convinced he’s guilty.

However, after seeing the evidence that the state witheld from the defense in Errol Morris’s book, I am convinced that he did not get a fair trial.

Certainly explains her being very comfortable breaking into a house inside a military base http://www.themacdonaldcase.org/Case_Overview.html

****Our Senate and House Representatives have recently created laws that change the forensics lab control to an independent agency outside of the Attorney General and law enforcement control to handle possible exculpatory evidence and be certain all evidence is available to the defense attorney and no longer hidden.

“Attorney General Roy Cooper, who oversees the Department of Justice, opposes the proposal. Some lawmakers and attorneys want the lab separate from the SBI to remove perceptions workers are only helping prosecutors. The lab has undergone reforms since an outside review of its blood unit by former FBI officials identified more than 200 cases improperly handled during a 16-year period until 2003. Cooper asked for the review after a scandal involving the exoneration of a man convicted of murder. The budget provision comes less than two months after the General Assembly approved another bill that made clear lab workers or anyone who willfully omits or misrepresents evidence such as results, notes or other materials that should have been in the case file for review by defense attorneys would face a felony charge. Senators want to go further. “I think that it’s extremely important that the SBI be put under an independent agency,” said Sen. Thom Goolsby, R-New Hanover, co-chairman of the Senate budget-writing subcommittee for criminal justice issues.”

This “occult group” had a problem with MacDonald? So why the multiple stabbings/beating to his wife and young daughters and just superficial wounds to him? This story stinks.
