KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — In Kure Beach, King Mackerel Club members are excited for their Carolina Fall Challenge Tournament this weekend.

Members say it’s a rush they just can’t explain. They hope to pass that feeling along to the younger generation.

“We promote pier fishing and friendship,” Tony Hay said. “Sportsmanship is the main thing and trying to get the younger generation to get in the club and enjoy themselves.”

Registration is tonight between 6 and 8 at the Microtel in Carolina Beach. The entry fee for non-members is $50.

Fishermen will first cast their lines at Kure Beach tomorrow and Sunday.
