Mall shoppers get chance to meet candidates

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Political candidates filled center court of Independence Mall Saturday afternoon for a town hall meeting.

Politicians from both sides of the aisle spoke with voters to answer any questions they may have about the upcoming election.

Officials at Independence Mall say as an area hub they feel it's important to hold events like these for the community.

"We certainly have always been a hub for the community and communities getting together, people in the communities getting together," the mall's Helen Lewis said. "It gives the people the opportunity to come to one location and see a variety of things that are important and going on in the world and the area they live in."

The Mall? Was the Convention

The Mall? Was the Convention Center broke down?

It was less than 100 people

I stopped by for a few minutes while at Sears, The mall wants it to look it like a big event. Other than the candidates' staff and and a dozen each of their hardcore supporters everyone else there had come to shop and weren't listening more than a few minutes before moving on.
