WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– People filled downtown Wilmington this weekend for the 34th annual Riverfest celebration.

Local businesses and vendors welcomed the crowds into their stores. They look at Riverfest as an opportunity to expand.

Riverfest brings both locals and tourists to town. This gives stores and vendors a chance to meet new people and sell their products on a larger scale.

“It’s one of our very best festivals,” Richard Roehl, owner of Cape Fear Rum Cake, said. “We always have a great response. We sample our products and we have people come back year after year.”

So it’s Christmas a few months early for these businesses. They are happy to meet new people, sell more products and make lasting connections with customers.

same food, same vendors, same location of food and vendors, same blow-up toy area for kids, same dance school presentation, same stages, same bleachers, same drink stands, same EVERYTHING. please wilmington, do something different. change with the times. Who is in charge of this crap?Riverfest is an outdoor mall for a day, food and shops, nothing else, this is an embarrassment. What about a river race? What if anyone could build a raft and decorate it and race it each year? What about a battery operated boat race? What is a riverfest when it has nothing to do with the river? What about a big outdoor dance? do somethign dang !!! stir it up a bit.
