HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — The alma mater of fallen soldier Sgt. T.J. Butler honored his service and sacrifice by hosting a Military Appreciation Night at Friday’s football game. Topsail High School in Hampstead encouraged fans to wear red, white and blue in Butler’s memory.

Military personnel were given free admission and were recognized for their service before kickoff. A moment of silence was held in Butler’s honor.

Topsail football players will wear Butler’s former number 10 on their helmets for the rest of the season.
