NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– Locals and visitors are making their way to Pleasure Island this weekend for the annual Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival. This year the festival welcomed iconic, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gregg Allman to the stage. The great food and music attracted a sold out audience this year, and people seemed very satisfied.

Dale and Alicia Case traveled from Oxford to enjoy the festival this weekend. They were excited to see Gregg Allman and say the festival is a great way to sit back and relax for a couple of days. Though it is there first Seafood Blues and Jazz festival, they say it will not be their last.

It was an awesome event and Gregg Allman was great. The other 14 bands put on great show as well!

Sorry you had problems with the tickets, but it was forecast and advertised that this would be a sell-out show. Unfortunately that can’t allow but so many people in and had to limit ticket sales to that number. The popularity of Gregg Allman prevented “at the door” sales due to the sell-out.

Sorry you had difficulties getting back to your car as well. Lots of people (in excess of 5000) were trying to leave after Mr. Allman completed his show. I know the golf cart volunteers worked very late attmpting to get those that needed assistance back to their transportation. I believe the Carolina Beach Chamber of Commerce underestimated to vast needs that a concert of this popularity will bring. You may want to get in touch with them to relay your problems.

This was my first time attending and I had a great time. Spent most of the day there on Saturday and it was beautiful. The music was awesome, food was great. I will plan on attending again. I’m very glad Gregg Allman was able to perform, but all of the other bands, including the jazz bands were great too.
