WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- As the often bitter race to represent much of southeastern North Carolina in the US House of Representatives draws to a close, the two candidates are spending the final days and hours of the campaign trying to reach every voter they can.

State Sen. David Rouzer hit the road from Wilmington early this morning in a RV to campaign before voters hit the polls tomorrow.

Rouzer is taking on Democrat Mike Mcintyre for his 7th District seat in Congress.

Rouzer traveled all around the district before heading home to to Johnston County to gear up for the big day.

"We feel great," Rouzer said. "We think momentum is on our side. We've got several counties that we're travelling through today on the RV, and I think we're going to have a good time with it, and one last opportunity to get out and shake hands and see as many voters as we can before Election Day."

Rouzer says every handshake in the next day hours could be what makes the difference in the race.

Meanwhile, McIntyre traveled the district in the opposite direction campaigning from Clayton to the Coast today and tomorrow.

We caught up with the Congressman in Benson, where he said he is confident about his reelection chances.

"The race is so close, and there's still a few undecided folks out there," McIntyre said. "We want to make sure they see that our heart is in this and that it's representative of the people. It's not going with attack ads, trying to make up things to distort our record. Our record's been clear. Most of the organizations that normally endorse Republicans have endorsed our campaign, because they know where we stand."

He also said late campaigning like this can make an impact among voters.
