WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The three winners in Tuesday’s race for the New Hanover County Board of Education all have two things in common: They are all women, and they are all Republicans.

Lisa Estep, Tammy Covil and incumbent Jeannette Nichols finished in the top three in the voting ahead of three Democrats.

The results mean incumbent Elizabeth Redenbaugh lost her seat. Redenbaugh was elected as a Republican four years ago. She switched to the Democratic Party last year she often found herself on the other side of issues from fellow Republicans.

Good ridance to the biggest phony in NHC politics—giving her an award for coverage is like giving john edwards a reward for being a good husband, Redenbaugh is a phony of the worst kind- a hypocrit and now thankfully a LOSER. Courageous- rubbbish she is a loser whoi people saw through!

This is the best news of the election. My only regret is that I have moved from the county and was unable to follow thru with the promise I made during all the re-districting meeting. I would have been proud to have campaigned to get her out. She accused good parents of being racist. It is great that she no longer has any control over the student of New Hanover County. The people of New Hanover saw thru all her garbage. Great job.

Hopefully you are not a product of the New Hanover County school system.

Redenbaugh is a “flip flopper” of the worst kind. She ran in 2008 as someone who was for neighborhood schools. In redistricting, as soon as she saw her kids were safe to stay in their neighborhood schools, she jumps on the idea of bussing kids in attempts to create fairness without taking into consideration the fact that many families had moved to certain areas to go to certain schools. Its reverse discrimination. The fact she got that Kennedy award is a joke!
Glad to see she’s out!

This was the best news all night. I will have to attend the swearing in of the new members of the board, just to watch the Snake in the grass leave. You ran as a Republican and when things did not go your way, you jumped to the Democratic side. You knew the Republicans would never vote for you again. Well I guess the Democrats did not like what you did either. As the the award that you received? There is a place you can put it and it is not on any self or bookcase. Goodbye!
