WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The rain couldn’t keep them away. The cold couldn’t keep them away. And now, lines as long as three hours can’t keep these voters away from the polls.

The line at the Warwick Center Election Night started at the entrance, went through the lobby, down a hall, and back up the other side. This left hundreds of voters, mostly college students waiting for as long as three hours.

People were trying to stay happy,” said voter Walter Johnson, “but not happy as far as I was concerned. I was like ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.'”

“I stayed because i know its important. it counts,” said voter Miles Wattersworth.

The wait was made a little easier by volunteers who gave out magazines, and even snacks.

And while the line no doubt discouraged a few voters the overwhelming majority were willing wait as long as it took to make sure their voice was heard.
