WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In New Hanover County, the long process of counting absentee and provisional ballots is wrapping up tonight. That means campaigns for Rep. Mike McIntyre and David Rouzer should know a whole lot more tonight about who will win their race for Congress.

The New Hanover County Board of Elections is first approving and counting provisional ballots in all 43 precincts. Then the whole process starts over with absentee ballots. The board also has to decide whether to approve pending ballots.

With the narrow margin between McIntyre and Rouzer, every vote matters, which makes the process even longer as campaign representatives question almost every decision the board makes.

Tomorrow, we will have the final official results for every election as votes are canvassed across the state. The question then is whether there will be any recounts in close races.
