WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A weekend checkpoint pulled more than a dozen unlicensed drivers from the roads.

Officers from UNCW, Wilmington Police, and New Hanover and Brunswick County Sheriff’s offices conducted the checkpoint Friday night in the 3200 block of Randall Parkway.

The following is a complete breakdown of charges and citations issued:

No operators license: 15
Driving while license revoked: 10
Driving while impaired: 8
Drive after consuming an impairing substance under age 21: 2
Possession of marijuana: 6
Stolen firearm recovered: 1
Miscellaneous other charges: 36

You can debate the legality of these checkpoints, but arresting drivers for DUI is not a waste of time.

Profiling is how you catch criminals : is the use of an individual’s race or ethnicity by law enforcement personnel as a key factor in deciding whether to engage in enforcement (e.g. make a traffic stop or arrest). The practice is controversial and is illegal in many jurisdictions.
