WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Diligence returned home following a month long patrol in the Bahamas, just in time for Thanksgiving dinner.
The Diligence left Wilmington on October 24 for a joint counter drug mission with the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the Drug Enforcement Agency. The Diligence ended the patrol by aiding mariners in distress. They responded to a report of a disabled fishing vessel with six people aboard, they were out 338 nautical miles east of the Bahamas.
The Diligence towed the vessel to safety in Cape Canaveral, Florida just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
