Emergency crews respond to home off Market Street; one confirmed dead

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Market Street is reduced to three lanes at 20th Street while the Wilmington Police and Fire Department investigate a hazardous materials incident.

New Hanover County Emergency Management says crews from the police, fire, and fire's hazardous materials departments as well as EMS units responded to 2004 20th Street Sunday night.

Emergency management says there is one death involved with the situation but specifics are not known at this time.

A spokeswoman for Wilmington Police says officers were initially called to the home for a death investigation around 5:45 pm. Officers allegedly found a substance they could not identify when they arrived and called in HAZMAT teams.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area due to the amount of emergency vehicles and personnel on the scene. Stay with WWAY for more details as they become available.

for those who may not know thats the chemical forumula for Potassium Cyanide which is what this joker used to off himself. Mixed it with Water and instant Gas Chamber (like they used to use to Execute people with). Unbelieveable lucky 1st responders werent injured or killed since apparently there was no warning outside (like those whove killed themselves previously using the infamous detergent suicide methods have done).. This could have easily been worse if not for a WPD officer having the keen nose to know something was very very wrong.

this 'joker' was a friend...sorry he inconvenienced others by the way he killed himself...I think he was in a bit more pain and centered on that when he chose to end his life...a bit more compassion please.
