WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The North 3rd Street improvement project is finally coming to an end. Monday and Tuesday marks the final major road closures for the project.

On Monday, northbound traffic on 3rd Street will close at Red Cross Street. Drivers will be able to take Red Cross to either 4th Street or 2nd Street as a detour.

On Tuesday, southbound traffic on 3rd Street will close at Davis Street. Drivers will be able to take Davis to 4th Street, or turn right onto Front Street.

Local business traffic will be permitted on both days.

Weather permitting, paving will begin later next week or early the following week with the same traffic patterns.

All paving is expected to be completed by mid-December and the road opened back up to four-lane traffic.

They’ll be back soon enough to fix what wasn’t done properly to start with. Mark it on your calenders.
