CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — Police in Charlotte have captured a bank robbery suspect as he tried to escape on a light rail train, but they’re having difficulty finding out who he is.
The Charlotte Observer reports that the robbery at a Wells Fargo branch was reported Thursday afternoon.
Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and the direction he was seen traveling. Police say several officers boarded a northbound light rail train moments later north of the robbery site, and they found a man fitting the description of the bandit and also report finding a handgun and money.
On Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they have been unable to identify the man, who apparently is not cooperating with investigators. They’re hoping the public will be able to provide tips on who the man is.
