ORLANDO FL, (WWAY) — In the consolation bracket of the Junior Midget Pop Warner Super Bowl the Coastal Cowboys beat the Oak Cliff Jets 39-6.
NEW YORK (AP) — Richard Howell had 13 points and grabbed all 10 of his rebounds in the second half, and C.J. Leslie had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead No. 25 North Carolina State to a 69-65 victory over Connecticut in the second game of the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.
The Wolfpack (5-2), who had lost two of three, have dropped 19 spots in the AP poll over the last four weeks after being ranked No. 6 in the preseason Top 25.
Howell, a 6-foot-8, 257-pound senior, led North Carolina State’s second-half rush to the boards. The Wolfpack had 20 rebounds in the second half, 11 on the offensive end – and Howell grabbed seven of those. The Huskies had 13 rebounds in the second half, six offensive.
Shabazz Napier led the Huskies (6-2) with 19 points and Ryan Boatright added 18.

NC State is 1-1 in the Jimmy V after Tuesday’s game. It lost its previous contest, 69-60, to Gonzaga in 2002 at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J.
Tonight’s win was NC State’s first win in New York since defeating Seton Hall, 65-62, in the 1989 ECAC Holiday Festival.
The Pack is now 3-2 in the series with Connecticut.
The Wolfpack is now 2-0 against the Big East Conference under Mark Gottfried. It defeated Georgetown, 66-63, in last year’s NCAA Tournament to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
Senior Scott Wood added three more 3-pointers to give him 248 in his NC State career. He now trails Rodney Monroe by 74. Monroe made 322 during his career (1987-91).
Senior Richard Howell posted his 16th career double-double and his third this season. He had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior C.J. Leslie posted his 15th career double-double and his third consecutive one this season. He had 16 points and 13 rebounds.
