BRUNSWICK CO., NC (WWAY) — A Robeson county teen is speaking out after pleading guilty to misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in a car wreck that killed her father.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a DWI charge against Brianna Galloway, 18.

Last summer, investigators say Galloway drove off the side of Stone Chimney Road in Brunswick county, hit a tree and flipped her car.

The teen says her life has been forever changed since the loss of her father.

“Under no circumstances should anyone ever drink and drive,” Galloway said. You may think it can’t happen to you, what I’ve been through, but news flash it can. Because of my actions my life will never be the same again. Think before you decide to get behind the wheel intoxicated.”

A judge sentenced Galloway to 18 months probation and a 60-day suspended jail term.

Galloway has begun speaking to community groups about her experience and warning them of the fatal consequences that can happen from drinking and driving.
