NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Vice and Narcotics Detectives conducted an undercover prostitution operation after receiving multiple complaints from concerned citizens.

NHSO Vice detectives targeted both women offering sex acts for money and men engaged in soliciting prostitution.

The operation netted a total of 11 individuals who were charged with either engaging or soliciting in prostitution. One other subject was charged with a felony drug violation and possession of paraphernalia.

Captain Ciamillo of the NHSO Vice and Narcotics Division says, “Prostitution has been a growing concern in our community. There is a known connection between prostitution and narcotics use and it’s very concerning to us”.
