WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Christmas is just days away, and yesterday the Wilmington community showed some true holiday spirit by joining WWAY and 103.7 The Bone to open their hearts, wallets and pantries to support the One Day Blitz to restock the Salvation Army food pantry at Krispy Kreme.

The Salvation Army says we collected 13,135 pounds of non-perishible food items and $2,294.19 in monetary donations. Those amounts easily smashed records set last year, when we collected more than 8,300 pounds of food and more than $1,500.

The One Day Blitz is the Salvation Army’s single largest food drive of the year. The food collected will help feed about 5,000 families in need in our community for several months to come.

Thanks to all of you who took time to make this year’s One Day Blitz a huge success!
