Brunswick County traffic stop uncovers heroin

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two men were arrested Friday after agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office found multiple bags of marijuana, heroin, and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop.

The heroin was found in a hidden compartment in the dash of the vehicle.

The driver, Hakeem Vereen, 21 of Ash was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was caught with 21 grams of marijuana.

Alex Hamilton, 19 of Whiteville was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Agents found Hamilton with 127 bags of heroin and more than $1,200 cash.

Vereen was placed under a $5,000 secured bond and Hamilton was placed under a $50,000 bond.

    Just quit enforcing it. Prices will plummet, the addicts will gork themselves into oblivion, and the dealers will give up because they can’t profit from selling it anymore. The addicts will always find something to keep them high, you can’t change that.
