WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In a meeting Monday morning, Wilmington City Council will meet to run through their agenda items before tomorrow’s weekly meeting.
One topic that continues to climb to the top of the list is school safety. Councilmen will discuss police assistance to Sheriff’s Deputies currently patrolling schools and the proposal of a police mobile field force.
School safety continues to dominate conversations outside Wilmington city limits.
In Brunswick County, the Sheriff’s Office and School Board members will continue collaborating when it comes to the safety and security of all students and staff.
They are all in agreement to keep law enforcement presence in each elementary school, like many schools across the country after the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.
However, funding will likely come up this afternoon during a 4:00pm meeting at the Board of Education in Brunswick County.
