BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Board of Education approved taking $245,838 from fund balance to retain school resource officers in all elementary schools for the remainder of the 2012-13 school year.

Resource officers have been a presence at all elementary schools in Brunswick County following the tragedy at Sandy Hook
Elementary School.

Superintendent Edward Pruden was also directed by the Board to examine continued funding for 2013-2014 as administrators prepare for upcoming budget work sessions.

School resource officers are provided by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

They had a way to fund this, staggered school schedule savings could’ve been used but that “inconvenienced” some people. Everyone’s motto is REDUCE SPENDING!!!! (just as long as it doesn’t affect me)

a way to continue funding for this forever. Otherwise, our family will budget a private school with guards. I will never again send my child to a school without an armed guard.
