BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is looking for burglars who stole from two deputies, including stealing badges and weapons.

A sheriff’s spokesman says Saturday someone broke into a deputy’s home in Ash. A second officer’s home was burglarized yesterday in the Longwood community. In each case, the crooks kicked in the doors of the empty homes while the deputies were at work.

Investigators say the thieves stole several weapons and two Sheriff’s Office badges.

Anyone with information should call the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 253-2777.

Some comments on here just remind me how ignorant people can be….
hold PEOPLE accountable for there actions and leave the law abiding citizens alone, people will not always obey the laws, way it is

Tell me sir, is weed illegal? Yea then tell me how people still get it? Right they do it illegally cause they no there is money to be made.
Banning guns will do the same thing, This is why we have the second amendment.

Then tell me how is arming the citizenry going to make anyone safer?

When the citizens are armed, the criminals will think twice. In this day of hidden cams, there’s not much you can get away with! A pretty brave move to pull this on a couple of deputies!

Now as for you, go hide in the coat closet and hold your breath when they break in on you.

You answered the question in your spout-off. Bad guys have guns…good guys need guns to protect themselves. Make sense to you, now?

It goes to show you that the criminal WILL find guns even IF the law says a law abiding citizen can’t have one. Isn’t stealing a crime? Fat lotta good that law did huh?

Think about it…..

Three replies that was more interested in attacking me than discussing the common failure in both crimes ; Unsecured weapons. These deputies negligently left their weapons unsecured in their homes. Hardly a week goes by that we don’t read about some kid either shooting himself, someone else or bringing a weapon to school. Gun advocates like to call themselves responsible gunowners, but seldom practice what they preach

I was wondering the same thing.

How do you steal 2 badges when both officers were at work, would they not need to have their badges on their uniform?

It is a classical expression of defiance reportedly spoken by King Leonidas I in response to the Persian army’s demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae.

Shortly after that all of the Spartans were wiped out to the last man. So much for the phrase “MOΛΩN ΛABE”.

ONLY Law Enforcment should have the “Right the bear ARMS”..
Epsecially “assult style” weapons…
While Bashing the CT. Shooters Mother about “securing” Weapons…
Well folks, Keep believing THAT line of BS…

NOW, Criminals ya see, DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE LAW!
Well guess what, NOW We have 2 UN-RESPONSABLE, Law Enforcment Officers “personal?” Weapons STOLEN, un-secured Folks…….
Will they show up at the next CRIME? Or Mass Shooting?
I’m also willing to BET that these Weapon(s) are the Officers “personal” Weapons, eg: ASSULT RIFLES…
OH! Any you “heavy” drug dealers that see a couple COPS dressed up showing “Badges” using Assult Style weapons, better hope it’s not these yahoo’s that stole the Weapons, Intent on robbing YOU,,, In ADDITION, Hey LAW Enforcment? What happens next, now that you’ve got WEAPONS AND Official badges to be used in a CRIME?
If I resided in the area(s), Police come to MY door flashing Badge(s) having Weapons, Just MAY get shot on sight? EG: Mistaken ID?

Remember this sign/Meaning folks…

take note, THIS is why gun laws don’t work! Only law abiding citizens follow law. Criminals target people like this and steal what they need!
