Theater community takes center stage at awards ceremony

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The theater community took center stage Wednesday night for the StarNews Wilmington Theater Awards. Folks even got to walk the red carpet before heading to the main theater at Thalian Hall.

About 20 awards were given out for categories from "Best Original Production" to "Best Choreography."

WWAY caught up with a little actor, who starred in the nominated show, "Guys and Dolls." Abel Zukerman says he's got the acting bug.

"I like the casts and I like having people see me and say good things about me," Zukerman said. "I like making people happy. Making people happy makes me happy."

The turnout was good for the second year of the event. Folks packed the theater from front to back.
