ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — A Bladen County native will be inducted this spring into the US Astronaut Hall of Fame. Curtis Brown of Elizabethtown is one of three astronauts who will be enshrined during a ceremony at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Brown flew on six space shuttle missions. He was commander of Discovery when Sen. John Glenn returned to space on STS-95 in 1998. He joins Eileen Collins and Bonnie Dunbar in this year’s Hall of Fame class.

The trio will be inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame April 20. Previous inductees include Glenn, Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, James Lovell, Sally Ride and Alan Shepard.
