WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — New Hanover County Commissioner Thomas Wolfe announced Tuesday morning that the ABC Board has donated $100,000 to help fund security officers at all elementary schools.

Wolfe said the ABC Board typically distributes some of its profits to the city of Wilmington and the beach towns, but this time they asked if it could be put toward a specific purpose. The city of Wilmington, Carolina Beach, and Wrightsville Beach agreed.

During discussions of increased security measures at county elementary schools earlier this month, Wilmington committed to helping provide four officers, Carolina Beach committed to one officer and Wrightsville Beach agreed to give funds for one officer. The ABC Board donation will be split amongst these entities to fund these commitments.

Every mixed beverage permit holder in New Han county pays a 3.75 tax per bottle of liquor they buy. So in reality all those “bad” bars are the ones who just footed the bill for that.

…and they won’t spend any of your money! Otherwise, close your flytrap.

HOW GENEROUS OF THE GOVT ABC (LIQUOR BOARD) TO USE TAXPAYER MONEY TO GIVE TO SCHOOL SECURITY! GLAD THEY COULD FIND THE SPARE CHANGE FROM THEIR RIDICULOUS SALARIES THEY PAY THEMSELVES! NOT ONLY DO WE PAY FOR THE ‘EDUCATION’ SECTOR THRU OUR PROPERTY TAXES, WE THEN GIVE HALF OF THE LOTTERY WINNINGS AND LIQUOR TAXES TO THE EDUCATION SYSTEM TOO….

Perhaps we could get them to fund some computer classes so you can learn how to take off your caps lock!
