WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Big Read is a national program designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage reading for pleasure and enlightenment.

Daphne Holmes represents Cameron Art Museum, one of the the community partners, and sat down with Good Morning Carolina anchor Ashley Jacobs to discuss some of the upcoming events to celebrate literacy. Two events will take place this weekend. Watch her full interview for all the details.

‘the Big Read’ is a community wide effort to celebrate reading and re-introduce classic books to today’s readers.

Daphne did such a great job of sharing some of the BIG READ events coming to Wilmington starting this Friday, Jan. 25. You can go to http://www.TheBigReadWilmington.com for a complete listing of events. The Big Read partners thank Daphne for helping get “The Great Gatsby” word out there!

Library, Cameron Art Museum, Ashley High School, UNCW, Cape Fear Community College, YWCA, Forward Motion Dance, Old Books on Front, Arts Council of Wilmington/New Hanover County, and Cape Fear Literacy Council.
