WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police gave the all-clear more than an hour after Government Center Drive was closed to investigate a suspicious package outside the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority’s office.

Wilmington Police say the package was found leaning against the CFPUA sign.

CFPUA spokesman Mike McGill says the package was noticed just before 8 a.m. He says Wilmington Police, their bomb squad, EMS, and fire crews are all on scene and have instructed CFPUA to evacuate the building.

Police would not say what was in the package, but said it was not dangerous.

Hey smart ass! If you spoke to a parent in Newtown on the morning of December 14, 2012 and asked them if the thought something like the shootings would happen there what do you think they would have said? It is always better safe than sorry. Also, if it was something serious and or dangerous and they did not check it you would probably have something to say about that as well. It is the times that we live in.

It could have been a box of Crapp! They seem to have it floating around everywhere else.

With the CFPUA’s track record, I’m sure they’re absolutely terrified of any unidentified package found anywhere near their office.

Anything other than pure terror on their part would be illogical.
