Fire in Myrtle Grove area total loss, cause unknown

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Fire crews worked for hours to extinguish a fire that broke out in the Myrtle Grove area Sunday night.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire that broke out just before 8 p.m. Sunday near the Edgewater Mobile Home Park.

According to New Hanover County dispatch, the home is considered a total loss.

Multiple crews responded to the fire, and some were on the scene until almost 1 a.m. Monday to keep flames from spreading to nearby homes.

Crews said it was hard to battle due to the narrow road leading to the house.

house fire/ dirt road

I am sorry that someone has lost they home, I know this road as I use to live on it many years ago. I was back in WIlmington 2011 and rode down the road and was in shock at how narrow the road had gotten, back in the 80 and 90's two cars could pass each other as long as one pulled close over to the side, 2011 it was all a large SUV could do to go down this road without be scratched by bushes and such.......I know how much crap was raised about the up keep of this road had been years ago, at least then the road was kept up, bushes trimmed etc. Now fire trucks cann't even get down the road. Maybe these home/land owners Insurance company's need to take at look........
