CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Firefighters are investigating a fire at a Carolina Beach motel.

Manager Tammy Rackley says this afternoon the staff at Russo’s Motel at 213 Cape Fear Blvd. heard an explosion from one of the motel’s rooms. She says when they looked outside, flames were pouring out.

Rackley says everyone got out of the motel safely. The Carolina Beach Fire Department says the fire is out, but there’s no word yet on what may have caused it.
