NC lawmakers want McCrory to give address Feb. 18

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - New Gov. Pat McCrory is expected to address the North Carolina General Assembly for his State of the State address later this month.

Senate Republicans filed a resolution Monday inviting McCrory to speak to a joint session of the House and Senate at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 in the House chamber.

North Caroilna governors deliver State of the State addresses early in odd-numbered years as the legislature begins its two-year session. Governors often lay out their goals and new initiatives during the speech.

The resolution still must be approved by the Senate and House.
